About the Founder
I am Dr. Maryam Lashgari, a PhD-trained chemist, dedicated educator, and passionate mentor with over 15 years of experience helping students succeed in mathematics and science. My love for teaching began early—long before my academic career—when I was the student who eagerly helped classmates understand difficult concepts. That passion has shaped every step of my journey.
I completed my Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry at the National University of Singapore, consistently ranked among the top 10 universities in the world, and later conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Arizona and University of Waterloo. My career has taken me through advanced research and industry roles, including working as an senior scientist and reasercher in the pharmaceutical sector. Yet, no matter where I was, I was always drawn to teaching, mentoring, and making complex ideas simple and accessible.
Having lived and studied in Iran, Singapore, the United States, and Canada, I bring a global perspective and a deep understanding of different learning styles. Today, as a dedicated educator in British Columbia, I focus on helping students not only achieve academic success, but also build confidence, think critically, and truly understand what they are learning.
To me, math and science are not just subjects—they are powerful ways of thinking. My goal is to help students see their beauty, logic, and creativity, and to enjoy learning them as much as I always have.
My mission is to help every student feel capable, supported, and empowered to grow
not only as mathematicians and scientists, but as confident, curious thinkers.

Elite STEM Learning Center was born from a simple but powerful belief: every student deserves to experience learning in a way that builds confidence, sparks curiosity, and creates genuine achievement.
Throughout my journey in science, research, and industry, the moments that inspired me most were always the moments of teaching—helping students move from frustration to understanding, and watching confidence grow alongside knowledge.
That inspiration became even deeper when I became a mother. Teaching my own children gave me a new perspective on learning and reaffirmed how transformative the right guidance, patience, and encouragement can be.
That is how Elite STEM was born.
I founded Elite STEM Learning Center to create a place where students are supported, challenged, and inspired:

That’s why our Statistics program is led by Dr. Mustafa Ornek, an academic at the University of Canada West with strong expertise in statistics, data analysis, and quantitative reasoning.
Dr. Ornek brings a research-driven and application-focused approach to learning Statistics, helping students develop real understanding—not just formulas, but the ability to interpret, analyze, and think critically with data.
